OPP: Charges laid on the 401 after a ‘Good Samaritan’ complaint

OPP officials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension after a Good Samaritan reported a traffic complaint.

On May 21, 2023, at approximately 7:10 p.m., the OPP received a traffic complaint involving a passenger vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on the eastbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

At approximately 7:32 p.m., a member of Elgin County OPP stopped the vehicle in the Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich for speeding.

The investigating officer suspected the driver had consumed alcohol and administered a roadside Approved Screening Device (ASD) test, registering an Alert.

As a result, a 28-year-old of Woodstock was issued a three-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and charged with:

– Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over the posted limit

The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive.
