International Association of BIPOC Winemakers meeting at 100th North Buxton Homecoming

A remarkable convergence of history, innovation, and community engagement is set to unfold as the North Buxton Homecoming celebrates its centenary milestone.

The spotlight will shine on the groundbreaking meeting of the International Association of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People Of Colour) Winemakers (IABWM), a historic event made possible through collaborations with local partners Abstract Marketing and IHUBApp.

The visionary leadership of Donna Stoney, the driving force behind IABWM and Stoney Wines, has paved the way to this pivotal moment and marks a significant stride in the realms of winemaking, technological innovation, and community building.

Supporting a critical piece of the community building and global engagement is IHUBApp, an advanced next-gen digital platform already being utilized by IABWM, Stoney Wines, and the North Buxton Homecoming.

IHUBApp has emerged as a transformative platform that empowers organizations to create interactive “Hubs” that instantly provide a powerful web and app experience to engage with audiences seamlessly. IHUBApp requires no complex coding or design skills, facilitating engagement, event management, fundraising, and more.

The alignment between IABWM, Stoney Wines, Homecoming, and IHUBApp goes beyond technological synergy; it embodies a spirit of collaboration and shared values.

Donna Stoney’s journey exemplifies her commitment to community transformation. Her pioneering achievements include becoming one of Oregon’s first black female Case Managers, advocating for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Stoney’s trailblazing continued as she ventured into winemaking, establishing Stoney Wines and becoming a prominent black female winemaker-enologist in Oregon. Beyond crafting exceptional wines, Stoney Wines contributes to the community, with a portion of proceeds supporting programs for individuals with disabilities.

“The organization’s genesis stems from a desire to amplify marginalized voices in winemaking,” said Sierra Scott, who is the Head of Business Development for IHUBApp, the Founder of IABWM Canada, and sits on the Homecoming Committee, in a media release.

“There is less than 1% of BIPOC winemakers globally, and the IABWM’s mission is to help change this.”

Abstract Marketing joins as a key partner, poised to introduce a new hub aimed at enhancing community engagement for Chatham-Kent residents. “Our collaboration with IHUBApp ushers in a new era of progressive web apps, seamlessly amalgamating website and app functionalities, providing organizations an effective avenue to connect with their audiences,” explains Andrew Thiel, President of Abstract Marketing.

The pinnacle of this extraordinary collaboration will manifest at the North Buxton Homecoming on September 4th.
Donna Stoney and Andrew Thield will join Karolyn Hart (Founder IHUBApp) with Mayor Canniff to confer a Certificate of Recognition upon Donna Stoney for her role in founding the International Association of BIPOC Winemakers.

This event will also mark the inaugural bi-national meeting of the Association, solidifying its global significance.
