Wallaceburg Griffins goalie Waukiigan Shognosh shines on the national lacrosse stage

Wallaceburg Griffins goalie Waukiigan Shognosh, 16, has had a great summer on the lacrosse floor.

In July, Shognosh attended the North American Indigenous Games and competed on the U17 Ontario box lacrosse team and went undefeated to bring home gold.

The 10th North American Indigenous Games hosted competitions in 16 sports within 21 venues across Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth and Millbrook First Nation.

The North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) 2023 brought together more than 5,000 athletes, coaches and team staff from 756+ Indigenous Nations celebrating, sharing and reconnecting through sport and culture with the help of 3,000 volunteers.

In August, Shognosh went to the Canadian National box lacrosse championships in Regina, Saskatchewan for Team Ontario and brought home gold as well.
