The inaugural East Kent Hot Rods for Hospice Fall Festival is scheduled to take place at the Ridgetown Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 23, 2023, featuring a packed lineup of activities.
The event, organized by Ridge Runners East Kent, East Kent Vintage Equipment Club, and Ridgetown District Agricultural Society, revolves around a car show, tractor show, and motorcycle show.
Additionally, attendees can expect numerous vendors, interactive children’s activities, live music, a pie auction, food trucks, a 50/50 draw, and more.
All proceeds from the festival will be directly donated to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
Emily Vollans, head of the planning committee and a member of Ridge Runners East Kent, emphasized that “Hot Rods for Hospice” is a community-driven initiative born out of passion for supporting Hospice and making a positive impact in Chatham-Kent.
The event has garnered generous support from local businesses in Blenheim, Ridgetown, and across Chatham-Kent, through sponsorships and donations for raffle items.
Participants in the car and tractor shows will receive dash plaques and have the chance to win door prizes. Children can engage in a Hot Wheels race provided by the Lally Group, a Nerf shooting gallery courtesy of CK-Expo, activities from Early On, a corn pit, three-legged race, potato sack race, and more.
Jodi Maroney, Executive Director of Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, highlighted the vital role of community fundraisers in raising essential funds to support Hospice operations. She expressed gratitude for the dedicated support of the Chatham-Kent community in providing care and support to local families during their grief journey.
Chatham-Kent Hospice has provided compassionate, end-of-life care to over 1,250 local families at no cost.
This care includes Care Coordination and Grief & Bereavement support, extending support not only to residents but also to their families and friends. Hospice relies on ongoing donations to cover expenses not covered by government funding, with approximately 62% of the operating budget covered by community donations and fundraisers.
