Police: B&E investigation in Chatham, theft, assault

Man arrested for multiple theft and possession charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, at approximately 9:50 p.m., police responded to a call regarding a theft from a business located on Communication Road in Blenheim.

Police located the accused in the area and observed numerous stolen products from various stores.

Through investigation, police were able to confirm three businesses who were victim to the accused stealing the merchandise in his possession.

The 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with three counts of Theft Under $5,000 and three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he has been held pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night at approximately 9:50 p.m., police responded to a residence on Arrowhead Lane in the city of Chatham in regards to an assault.

Upon attending, police learned the parties were in a dispute over a missing water bottle when the accused became upset and attempted to punch the victim, nearly missing; however, still injuring the victim.

The 21-year-old Chatham man was arrested for one count of assault.

The accused was transported to police headquarters and later released with condition and a future court date of October 30th, 2023.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday unknown suspects damaged and entered a home located on Cecile Street, Chatham.

Numerous items were taken.
