The Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) will be hosting a ‘Food for Fines’ initiative from October 30 to November 4, 2023.
“Between October 30 and November 4, patrons can bring in non-perishable food items to any CKPL branch and, as a thank you, CKPL will waive $5 in overdue fines per donated items up to a maximum benefit of $50 per account,” library officials said in a media release.
“Donations will be given to local organizations to benefit people in communities across Chatham-Kent. Any unexpired, non-perishable food item can be donated. The ‘Food for Fines’ initiative can only be applied to fines for items that were returned late. Patrons are responsible for paying for any lost or damaged items or other fees on their account.”
Have no fines and still want to participate?
“CKPL will gladly take food donations and make sure they get to those who need them,” library officials added.
