Man arrested for theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 9:15 a.m., while on general patrol, an officer stopped a man known to them from previous encounters on Fifth Street near King Street in Chatham.

The officers confirmed the man was wanted on outstanding warrants, and the man was arrested.

The 46-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with failing to attend court, two counts of possession of stolen property, two counts of theft, and four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On June 2, 2023, the man was arrested and charged with mischief after he broke a window at a residence on Merici Way in Chatham.

He was released with conditions and a future court date.

When the man failed to attend court to face this charge, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On November 2, 2023, officers located the man on Colborne Street in Chatham, and he was arrested.

The 45-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
