Chatham-Kent and Lambton County elementary and secondary school classes are invited to participate in the 2nd annual ‘Clash of the Classrooms’ Reading Challenge hosted in partnership with Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) and Lambton County Library.
Through this program, CKPL and Lambton County Library hope to strengthen students’ love of reading.
Online registration for ‘Clash of the Classrooms’ opened Monday, January 8.
Teachers can sign their class up for the challenge through Beanstack: a web-based tracking service that enables individuals and groups to easily track reading progress.
From February 5 to March 8, teachers can use Beanstack to report their class reading progress.
Classes will earn badges for reaching reading milestones and completing activities.
Any time students spend reading inside and outside the classroom can be added to class reading totals.
The two elementary classes and one high school class from each municipality with the most minutes read will win a pizza party.
As well, one elementary school, one high school, and one homeschool group from each municipality will win a cash prize for most collective minutes read.
New this year, the municipalities are going head-to-head.
The top elementary school and top high school across both regions will get their name added to the Clash Cup.
The trophy will be displayed at the library location closest to the school.
