School buses cancelled this morning in Wallaceburg, Dresden & Chatham-Kent due to fog

Student Transportation Services says buses have been cancelled in Zones 5, 6, 7 and 8 this morning, January 24, 2024, due to fog conditions.

All other zones running as normal this morning and all zones will run this afternoon, Student Transportation Services officials say.

All schools for the Lambton-Kent District School Board and the St. Clair Catholic District School Board are open.

Wallaceburg Christian School will be open, but buses are cancelled this morning.

“Please drive students in when it is safe to do so,” Wallaceburg Christian School officials said on social media.

“Buses will run this afternoon.”

There is a two hour bus delay this morning due to fog at Bkejwanong Kinomaagewgamig on Walpole Island.

“Buses will be out to pick up students at 10 a.m.” Bkejwanong Kinomaagewgamig officials said on social media.

The Walpole Island school is open.

A fog advisory remains in place across the region by Environment Canada, as near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring.

“Dense fog is expected to continue this morning,” forecasters say.

“Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.”
