Bishop of the Free Methodist Church in Canada has appointed Reverend Phillip Sabine to be the new part-time pastor at Charlemont Free Methodist Church, located at 30127 Brigden Road, between Wallaceburg and Dresden.
Married with two children and four grandchildren, Sabine has been pastoring for over 20 years and preaching for over 40 years in the Sault Ste. Marie and Owen Sound areas.
“Through a mutual friend, I was asked to do some pulpit supply at Charlemont Free Methodist Church,” Sabine told the Sydenham Current.
“After a few Sundays of pulpit supply a district leader from the Free Methodist Church suggested that I look at their need for a part-time pastor. After discussions with board members and the head office of the Free Methodist Church of Canada, I was appointed by the Bishop to be the lead pastor of the church in Charlemont.”
Sabine has lived in Chatham for the last four years after moving from St. Joseph Island, near Sault Ste. Marie a few years ago.
During the pandemic, he served as chaplain of a long-term-care home home in Chatham.
Officials at the church say they are optimistic about their new pastor and are asking God to bless their small gathering in the near future.
“Pastor Phil is grateful to be called to this rural church and together with the congregation hopes to grow and change where needed to better serve the church and the surrounding community,” church officials say.
