Police encouraging safety during St. Patrick’s Day weekend celebrations

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham officers conducted a RIDE program in Chatham and 253 vehicles were checked.

Three tests done and one person had their licence suspended for three days.

The Chatham-Kent Police encourage everyone to celebrate St. Patrick’s day safely.

If you are out celebrating and having drinks please:

– Identify a designated driver for your group.

– Do not let friends drive after drinking. Take their keys.

– If you have been drinking, get a ride home from a friend who has not been drinking or call a taxi or Local ride sharing services

– If you host a party with alcohol, offer alcohol-free beverages and remind guests to designate a sober driver.

– If you suspect a drunk driver on the road, call the police and provide the location, direction the vehicle is headed, the vehicle’s make, model, color and license plate number.

The Chatham-Kent Police will be conducting RIDE programs across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to ensure everyone is kept safe.
