Wallaceburg’s Shaun Suisham named Director of the Girls Hockey Program for Pittsburgh Penguins Elite

Wallaceburg native, and former NFL kicker, Shaun Suisham has traded his cleats for skates.

Officials with the DICK’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program has announced that Suisham has been named Director of the Girls Hockey Program.

“Shaun will work closely with Kathy Pippy and Danny MacKinnon on the overall day to day operations for our girl’s program,” officials with the Penguins Elite program stated.

“Shaun is no stranger to the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program. He has been coaching the girl’s teams for the past 6 seasons. Last season, Shaun lead the 14U Girls to the final four at the USA Hockey Nationals in Dallas, Texas.”

Penguins Elite officials added: “Shaun is extremely passionate about providing each player the opportunity to succeed on and off the ice. He has been instrumental in the growth of girls hockey throughout Western PA. We are looking forward to him being a member of our staff and support the growth and development of girls hockey.”

Suisham, who is a graduate from Wallaceburg District Secondary School, spent over 10 years as a kicker in the NFL, mostly with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

His field goal success rate of 84.1% ranks 27th in NFL history.

He retired in 2016 as a member of the Steelers.
