Automatic License Plate Reader detects stolen vehicle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 1:16 p.m. while on patrol, an officers Automatic License Plate Reader detected a stolen motor vehicle travelling on St. Clair Street, in Chatham.

The vehicle was located parked at a nearby business, with a male and female occupant.

A 34-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man, both from Chatham, were arrested for possession of property obtained by crime.

Both parties were transported to CKPS headquarters.

As the investigation progressed, it was discovered that the man was also breaching a probation order, he was charged accordingly.

Both were subsequently released with a future court date.
