Over 500 people attend 2024 Hike for Hospice, a record $167,500 raised

Braving the unpredictable weather, over 500 people came out to show their support of Chatham-Kent Hospice during the 8th annual Hike for Hospice at Mud Creek trail, Sunday, May 5, 2024.

For a week, the trail was adorned with signs displayed in memory of loved ones no longer with us as well as recognition for our generous sponsors.

“Through the pledges collected by all our hikers, as well as our sponsors, a Hike best of $167,500 and still counting was raised to provide end-of-life care including residential hospice care, care coordination and grief and bereavement support to local families at no cost to them. It was so touching to see so many people walking together on the trail and all the memorial signs are just a reminder of the impact Hospice has made in our community,” stated Ginny Hawken, Hike for Hospice Event Co-Chair, in a media release.

Rhys Dulisch, Hike for Hospice Event Co-Chair, added: “A special shout out goes to Martinrea’s Marchers for Miracles from Ridgetown, the winner of the Corporate Challenge! Along with the coveted Hike for Hospice trophy and bragging rights, they will also receive a free breakfast or lunch courtesy of Cora’s. Additionally, we want to thank our title sponsor Battery Boy and our Family Fun Activity sponsor, Kent & Essex Mutual.”

Further support for the event was provided by Fairway Wealth Management, Teksavvy, Chatham Lions Club, MicroAge and Mc Business Solutions.
