Weapons call on Walpole Island leads to two arrests

OPP officials allege: On Monday May 13, 2024, at just after 9:00 p.m., members of the Walpole Island Police Service and Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a weapons call in the 300 block of Tecumseh Road, Walpole Island First Nation.

Walpole Island Police Service along with Lambton County OPP attended the location and set up containment of the area. OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit were engaged.

Two parties were eventually arrested at the scene without incident. A search warrant was later executed on the premises by members of the Walpole Island Police Service and Lambton OPP Crime Unit.

A 19-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with the following:

– Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

A 21-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with the following:

– Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Both accused have been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on July 11, 2024.
