Vehicle observed doing burnouts in Chatham, impaired and stunt driving charges laid

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 1:49 p.m., police observed a vehicle doing burnouts on Grand Avenue East in Chatham and then leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on St. Clair Street and believed the man to be under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for tests.

The 22-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit, impaired driving, stunt driving and driving with a suspended license.

The man’s vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

He was released with conditions and a future court date of June 10, 2024.
