Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:51 p.m., police responded to Grand Avenue West in Chatham for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers learned a verbal argument between the man and the woman escalated when the man assaulted the woman.
During the argument the man also threatened to harm the woman.
Officers also learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a 2023 theft investigation.
Upon a search incident to arrest the man was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
The 36-year-old Chatham Kent man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
He is currently facing the following charges: assault, uttering threats, possession of a controlled substance, theft, two counts of mischief, and two counts of possession of stolen property.
