Woman struck with glass vase in Chatham, assault with a weapon charges laid

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 20, 2024, at 4:42 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on William Street South in Chatham.

Officers learned a verbal argument between the man and them woman escalated when the man struck the woman with a glass vase.

The woman sustained physical injury as a result of the assault.

On July 21, 2024, at 11:20 a.m., the 32-year-old Harwich Township man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself in to the police.

He was held pending a bail hearing and charged with assault with a weapon.

As a result of the bail hearing, the man was released by the court with conditions and a future court dated of August 20, 2024.
