Construction worker receives minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Wallaceburg, dangerous driving charges laid

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 2:38 p.m., emergency crews responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision on Dufferin Avenue at St. Clair Parkway in Wallaceburg.

The collision involved a pickup truck and a pedestrian.

The pickup truck was driving westbound on Dufferin Avenue, through the marked construction zone, when the right mirror struck a worker and pylons. The vehicle continued driving westbound.

With the assistance of an off-duty and on-duty Walpole Island Police, the driver was identified.

The man was arrested at his residence by Walpole Island Police and turned over to Chatham-Kent Police.

The 71-year-old Walpole Island man was transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of September 30, 2024.

He has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and failing to stop at an accident cause bodily harm.

The construction worker was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
