Charles ‘Chaz’ Ralston Sampson, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 20, 2022 at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Celeste Sampson.
Son-in-law of Aleta Kewayosh. Loving Father and Grandfather of Muriel (Kaitlynn and Patrick), Kristien and Natasha (Anya and Declan), Damien and Jaelyn (Kaylon), Brandi and Derek (Sullivan and Linnea), Kerri and Howard III (Howard IV, Vanna and Vivian).
Dear brother of Patricia Sword and the late Michael Sampson, Kathleen Sword and Meggan Schnarr-Rice.
Beloved son of the late Muriel Yvonne (Sampson) Day and Wilson Glen Soncrant.
Charles had many leadership roles at Walpole Island First Nation including Chief, Councillor and a few manager roles including Thunderbird Plaza. Private family visiting and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg.
Interment followed at Highbanks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home 519.627.3231.
