Chatham resident charged after a vehicle crashes into a ditch on Highway 401 in Middlesex County

OPP officials allege: Driver charged with impaired operation after members of the public report a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 401.

On September 28, 2024, at 1:29 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London, for reports of a vehicle in the ditch near Highway 402.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest.

As a result, a 23-year-old Chatham woman, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol

· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 24, 2024.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
