OPP: Two charged following a traffic stop on the 401 in Chatham-Kent

OPP officials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Chatham Detachment has charged two individuals following a traffic stop.

On October 9, 2024, at approximately 6:55 p.m., members of the OPP (Chatham Detachment) stopped a passenger vehicle after receiving a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system on the eastbound Highway 401 near Communication Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The investigating officer determined that both the driver and the passenger were violating conditions of previous release orders.

As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old from Windsor was charged with:

– Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

Additionally, a 19-year-old from Windsor was charged with:

– Failure to comply with undertaking

– Breach of recognizance

Both the accused were held pending a bail hearing.
