Impaired driving charges laid at the Bluewater Bridge

OPP officials allege: Police arrested an impaired driver at the Bluewater Bridge in the Village of Point Edward.

On November 5, 2024, shortly after 11 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were requested to attend Bluewater Bridge, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), regarding a possible impaired driver.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Chesterfield, Michigan man has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

– Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 19, 2024, in the City of Sarnia.
