The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres (CKCHC) has announced its first online charity auction, running from November 12 to November 23, 2024, to raise funds for youth programs in the community.
The auction will feature donated items, with proceeds supporting two youth initiatives, PERSERVERE and FRESH for Youth.
PERSERVERE is an eight-week, in-school program designed to build resilience among students, focusing on emotional awareness, coping strategies, social support networks, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence. During the 2023-24 school year, CKCHC partnered with the Lambton Kent District School Board and Bkejwanong Kinomaagewgamig to deliver the program in 25 classrooms across 12 schools, reaching 551 students.
The FRESH for Youth program is a cooking skills series led by a registered dietitian, where participants learn foundational kitchen skills, including measuring, chopping, and portioning. Since August 2023, CKCHC has held 11 classes, attended by 105 young people. This year, CKCHC partnered with Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue, using five local fire stations as class venues.
The auction opens at 9 a.m. on November 12 and closes at 9 p.m. on November 23.
