CP Holiday Train rolling into Chatham on Monday with a free concert

The Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train is set to roll into Chatham on Monday, November 25, 2024, bringing its signature blend of holiday spirit, live music, and charitable giving.

The train will stop at the Holiday Inn & Convention Center, located at 565 Richmond Street, with festivities scheduled from 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The event will feature performances by Grammy-nominated folk-rock artist KT Tunstall and pop rock band American Authors.

Now in its 25th year, the brightly decorated train tours communities across Canada and the U.S. to raise money, food, and awareness for local food banks. Since its launch in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has collected over $24.3 million and 5.3 million pounds of food to support those in need.

“The Holiday Train unites people in the spirit of the season as it travels across Canada and the United States, while generating critical support for our neighbours in need through the program’s support of local food banks,” said Keith Creel, CPKC President and Chief Executive Officer, in a media release.

“We are pleased to again send this magical train on a four-week trip across our network spreading holiday joy as we collect food and raise money to fight food insecurity. We look forward to seeing all the smiles and cheers from people young and old coming together in the spirit of giving.”

At each stop, CPKC donates to the local food bank and encourages attendees to bring monetary contributions or heart-healthy nonperishable food items.

The Chatham stop will benefit local food banks serving the community.

The event is free to attend, and visitors are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot.
