A power outage has closed a number of schools in the area.
“Please be advised that Good Shepherd, Thamesville, and St. Michael, Ridgetown, are closed today, Thursday, December 5, 2024, due to a power outage,” St. Clair Catholic District School Board officials say.
“The outage, combined with the current weather conditions, has made both buildings unsafe for use. As such, these schools will be closed to both students and staff.”
School board officials added: “We anticipate that schools will reopen tomorrow, pending the restoration of power. Updates will be shared as new information becomes available. For the most up-to-date details, please visit our website at st-clair.net.”
Public school board officials say Thamesville Area Central school will also be closed today, due to the power outage.
Meanwhile, school buses are cancelled today in Zones 1, 3, 5 and 6 (which includes Dresden Area Central, Lambton-Kent Composite School and Dawn-Euphemia Public School.)
