Friends of the St. Clair River announce photography contest winners

Friends of the St. Clair River (FOSCR) recently held their fourth amateur digital photography contest to raise public awareness and appreciation for this beautiful body of water just steps from our door.

The contest aimed to motivate participants to capture photographs showcasing the ongoing improvements to the natural conditions of the river.

The contest was open to Canadian and American residents from September 1, 2024, to November 1, 2024. A total of 143 photos were submitted by 60 individuals across three contest categories: “Nature and Wildlife,” which focused on the St. Clair River’s natural features such as water, flora, fish, and wildlife; “Digital Perspectives,” which allowed digital editors to add an artistic touch and present a new perspective of the St. Clair River; and “Youth (Under 18),” which included any activity, scenic view, people, buildings, or other elements related to, along, in, under, or from the St. Clair River.

A panel of judges reviewed the entries and selected the winning photographs for each category. FOSCR presented the following prizes: $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place.

– Nature and Wildlife: First place – Lindsay Lawson, Second place – Michele Hutton, Third place – Sarah Parmann-Jenks

– Digital Perspectives: First place – Kris Lawrence, Second place – Jeffrey Thornton, Third place – Diane Lambert

– Youth (Under 18): First place – Cora Hunter, Second place – Lilly Inkpen, Third place – Cora Hunter

The Friends of the St. Clair River extend their gratitude to everyone who captured and submitted beautiful photos of the river.
