Mrs. Joanne (Van Asseldonk) DeBruyn of Wallaceburg passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, in Chatham, at the age of 65.
Joanne was born in Chatham, Ontario and was a daughter of the late Martin and Frances (VanArkel) Van Asseldonk.
Beloved wife of John DeBruyn.
Loving mother of Annette (Greg) Barcroft, Nicole Vella, and Catherine (Arty) DeBruyn.
Sadly missed by her grandchildren Mitchell, Charlotte, Adrianna, Jemma, Katelynn, and Greyson.
Kind sister of Tony (Joan) Van Asseldonk, Maria (Rick) Kerr, Bernie (Harley) Taylor, Lawrence Van Asseldonk, Robert (Kelly) Van Asseldonk, and Linda (Jim) Salisbury.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles
Predeceased by her granddaughter Ashley and a sister Annette Van Asseldonk.
Joanne was a very accepting person who believed that everyone should be free to be themselves. She worked at Tim Horton’s for over 25 years and was a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Family and friends will be received at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 3-5 p.m.
Cremation will follow.
