Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers releases 2024 statistics

Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers has released statistics from 2024.

“We believe that our program has been an intricate part in keeping our community safe,” Erica McIntosh, Crime Stoppers Coordinator, said in an email to the media.

Here are the 2024 numbers:

Tips Received – 531

Charges laid – 43

Arrest – 15

Total Property Recovered – $172,410

McIntosh said their program encourages: Community engagement, awareness and action.

“Crime Stoppers brings together the police, media, and community to fight crime and improve relations between them,” McIntosh stated.

“Crime Stoppers can help raise awareness about the level of criminal activity in a community… (it) gives the community a way to fight back against crime.”

McIntosh added January is a “wonderful opportunity” to bring awareness to the Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers program.

“Our program is aimed at empowering community members to report suspicious or criminal activity anonymously,” she said.

“Since inception in 1987 the Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers program has been responsible for eliminating over 115 million worth of stolen property and illegal drugs off the streets and seizing 340 illegal weapons.”
