Commercial vehicle stop in Lambton County leads to multiple charges

OPP officials allege: On December 27, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop involving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on Churchill Line, west of Blackwell Side Road.

As a result of the investigation, a 68-year-old of Sarnia, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with the following offences:

– Fail to stop for police

– No red light on rear of trailer – commercial motor vehicle

– Fail to surrender permit for trailer

– Operate unsafe combination of vehicles – commercial motor vehicle

– Improper means of attachment – commercial motor vehicle

– Insecure load – commercial motor vehicle

– Drive commercial motor vehicle without conducting inspections

– Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report

– Fail to carry CVOR certificate or lease

– Vehicle modified – fail to apply for new permit

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Sarnia at a later date.
