Pair of stunt driving charges laid in Chatham-Kent

OPP officials allege: The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Detachment, has charged two individuals following traffic stops on Highway 401, West Elgin

On January 5, 2025 at approximately 11 a.m., an officer with the OPP stopped a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on highway 401, west of Bloomfield Road, Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding more than 50 Km/h over the posted speed limit.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 25-year-old from Coatsworth was charged with the following: Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed.

On January 5, 2025 at approximately 4:05 p.m., an officer with the OPP stopped a passenger vehicle travelling westbound near Harwich Road, Chatham-Kent after it was found speeding more than 50 Km/h over the posted speed limit.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 22-year-old from Oshawa was charged with the following: Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed and Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

A 14-day vehicle impoundment, 30-day and three-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspensions were initiated as per statute.
