Chatham man charged with child luring

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man has been charged with online child luring after an investigation by the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.

Police allege the 45-year-old man attempted to lure a child under 16 for sexual purposes using online communication platforms. He was arrested without incident on Jan. 16 in Amherstburg, with assistance from the Windsor Police Service ICE Unit.

The man was released from custody with a future court date in Chatham.

The victim has been identified and offered support.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is part of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, funded by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
