Following the fire that took place in Bothwell affecting multiple downtown businesses, including the Bothwell Canada Post Office, teams from Canada Post and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent have worked to adjust postal operations to continue to serve the residents of the community, Municipal officials say.
Starting Thursday, January 23, Canada Post will begin operating out of a temporary location in the Community Room of the Bothwell Town Hall located at 320 Main Street in Bothwell.
The office entrance is on Elm Street.
The hours of operation will be from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents can pick up carded items at this location by providing valid government-issued photo identification.
Mail will be available for residents who had PO boxes at the Bothwell Post Office with valid government-issued photo identification.
Mail delivery will resume today, Wednesday, January 22.
Retail services will be unavailable at this temporary location.
Retail customers can temporarily access postal services at the following locations:
– Thamesville Post Office at 15 Victoria Street in Thamesville
– Wardsville Post Office at 1776 Longwoods Road in Wardsville
“Getting postal service up and running became one of our key priorities immediately after the fire,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff, in a media release.
“I would like to thank both the team at Canada Post for their quick action and the residents of Bothwell for their patience while we work through the readjustment process. Municipal staff and I will continue to work with the residents of Bothwell and the downtown businesses towards revitalization.”
Residents are encouraged to contact the Canada Post Customer Service team with any questions about postal services online at canadapost.ca/support or by telephone at 1-866-607-6301 (TTY: 1-800-267-2797).
