Families and prospective applicants are invited to attend St. Clair Catholic’s Project SEARCH Information Night on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Jerry McCaw Family Centre YMCA in Sarnia.
This event highlights an innovative school-to-work transition program designed for students with intellectual or communication disabilities.
Hosted in partnership with the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario and the Goodwill Career Centre, Project SEARCH offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience through a variety of internships.
Attendees will hear a presentation about the program, meet the team, and tour the internship facilities, led by current Project SEARCH interns.
“Project SEARCH brings together community, resources, and opportunities into one cohesive program,” said Hollie Sparling, Program Resource Consultant, in a media release.
“It’s a truly transformative experience for our students as they develop skills and confidence to enter the workforce.”
“This is an incredible opportunity for our students and community partners to work together to create meaningful pathways for every student,” said Scott Johnson, Director of Education, in a media release. “We are thrilled to see the positive impact this program continues to have in our community.”
The Information Night is open to families, students, and anyone interested in learning more about Project SEARCH and its impact. Registration is available through the Project SEARCH Sarnia website.
St. Clair Catholic encourages families to explore how Project SEARCH can support students’ transition to the workplace. For more information, contact Hollie Sparling at hollie.sparling@sccdsb.net.
