Lambton OPP officials allege: On February 2, 2025, at approximately 2:15 a.m., while conducting general patrol, a member of the Walpole Island Police Service initiated a traffic stop in a parking lot of a business on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old from Chatham, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Liquor Licence and Control Act with the following offences:
– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 10, 2025, in the City of Chatham to speak to the charges.
