A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for tonight, February 8, 2025, across Chatham-Kent.
Environment Canada officials say snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 cm is possible, along with freezing rain or freezing drizzle leading to light ice build-up and slippery conditions.
“Snow will continue this evening with snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 cm by tonight,” forecasters say.
“The snow may become mixed with, or change over to freezing drizzle or freezing rain this evening. Any freezing rain or freezing drizzle is then expected to change back over to snow near or soon after midnight. There will still remain the risk for some freezing drizzle at times through the overnight. The snow and freezing drizzle will taper off early Sunday morning.”
Forecasters added” “There still remains some uncertainty with the extent and potential severity of the freezing rain should it materialize. Freezing rain warnings may be issued if needed.”
Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly, Environment Canada officials added.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” forecasters say.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.”
