With heavy hearts we announce that Jaynes Barry Altiman ‘Press’, a member of Walpole Island First Nation has travelled to join his ancestors on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the age of 66.
He will be forever remembered by his children Jenine Altiman, Michelle Nahdee, Allison Altiman (Chris Annett), Elizabeth Altiman (Jagar Kiyoshk) and his step-sons Lyle, Wally (Emily) and Wyndal.
Cherished papa of Anita, Ciara, Larissa, Erykah, Jaynes, Stylo, Selena, Ngwiss, Aliyah, Wylee, Jaela, Gaige, Dontae, Zack, and 2 great grandchildren.
Son of the late Jaynes and Gloria Altiman and dear brother of Chuck, Tine, Vern, Holly, Charm (Darrien), Julie, Marcia and the late Leroy. Press was passionate about duck hunting and fishing. He loved playing hockey and is a big fan of Toronto Maple Leafs. He loved our native ways of life.
He was a sundancer and he loved to educate people about the native teachings.
He loved his family, friends and his grandchildren dearly.
He will be missed by many. Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Walpole Island Sports Complex beginning on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 6pm until the time of his funeral service on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 11am.
Burial at Highbanks Cemetery to follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231).
