Update: Winter weather travel advisory back in place in C-K, freezing rain warning remains in place

A winter weather travel advisory is back in effect in Chatham-Kent, Environment Canada officials said at 10:04 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Forecasters say total snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible, with peak snowfall rates of 2 to 3 cm per hour and reduced visibility in heavy snow.

“Freezing rain is occurring this evening and a freezing rain warning is currently in effect,” forecasters say.

“However some areas could still see snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm by Thursday morning, particularly from near Windsor and east towards Chatham. Windsor has transitioned back to snow which may persist into the morning. Areas east of Windsor and near Lake Erie will likely remain as freezing rain into early overnight before changing to snow.”

Forecasters added: “Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Avoid travel if possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.”

A freezing rain warning remains in place, as ice build-up of 2 to 4 mm is expected.
