On March 19 2025, the municipal sidewalk on the west side of Queen St. between 45 and 55 Queen St. will be closed until such time as the demolition of 47/49 Queen St. is completed.
Municipal officials say the sidewalk has been closed as the condition of the site has further deteriorated under high winds resulting in an increased concern about a larger failure of the remaining structures.
Signage will be placed at locations along Superior St. and Queen St. advising pedestrians that the sidewalk is closed.
Direction signs will also be placed at intersections directing pedestrians to access the sidewalk on the east side of Queen St.
The Municipality has stressed the importance of the project moving quickly in its communications with the property ownership and their insurance provider, Municipal officials added.
