Taser deployed after a shoplifting incident in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 30, 2025, at approximately 1:26 p.m., Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a theft complaint from a retail business in Wallaceburg.

Officers located the suspect, a 30-year-old male from Chatham-Kent, riding a bicycle on McNaughton Avenue.

When officers attempted to arrest him, the accused resisted and became confrontational, where officers deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) to safely gain control.

The accused was arrested and charged with the following:

– Theft Under $5000

– Possession Under $5,000

– Assaulting a peace officer- with intent to resist

The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and is currently being held for bail.
