Traffic stop in Chatham leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 3:50 a.m., a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on Park Street in Chatham.

The officer discovered a female occupant, bound by curfew conditions, was in breach of a release order by being outside during her curfew period.

Through further investigation, the officer found a male occupant in possession of a controlled substance.

The 27-year-old Blenheim woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held for a bail hearing.

She has been charged with failing to comply with a release order.

The 25-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a future court date of May 8, 2025.

He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance – Methamphetamine.
