Breach and criminal harassment charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 24, 2025, the accused, a 50-year-old female from Chatham, was placed on a probation order.

One of the conditions stated that she was not to be within 100 metres of any locations where the victim a 41-year-old female from Chatham lives, works or attends school, except for required court appearances.

On April 3, 2025, at approximately 6:18 p.m.., the victim was at her residence situated at Colborne Street, Chatham, when she heard a female voice yelling profanities while walking towards her residence which was within 100 metres.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service was contacted, and video captured confirmed the accused was walking past the victim’s residence within 100 metres, thereby violating the condition of her probation.

Officers determined that the accused was in breach of her probation order and that she was also engaged in criminal harassment.

The accused was arrested and charged with the following:

– Failure to comply with probation

– Failure to comply with probation

– Criminal harassment

She was read her rights to counsel, cautioned and transported to Chatham Kent Police Service headquarters where she was held for a bail hearing on the aforementioned charges.
