Stick thrown at a young girl in Wallaceburg, assault with a weapon charges laid

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 5, 2025, at approximately 10:17 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service received an assault call for service on James Street in Wallaceburg.

The complainant advised that a 32-year-old woman from Wallaceburg had thrown a stick at a minor, striking her.

The victim was walking eastbound on James Street with her parent when they passed the accused, who was unknown to them.

Without provocation, the accused picked up a stick and threw it at the child, striking her in the side.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

At approximately 10:27 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service located the suspect on James Street.

The suspect matched the description provided by the complainant and was arrested and charged for assault with a weapon.

She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and was released with a scheduled court date of May 12, 2025.
