It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Leonard (Len) Leroy Salisbury on April 16 2025, who passed peacefully at the age of 94 after a brief illness which he fought gallantly with his usual strength and determination.
Len was the son of the late John (Jack) and Bertha Salisbury.
Beloved husband for 45 years to Kay Salisbury. Following her passing in 1996, Len re-married Lois Hornick Salisbury and they celebrated 27 years together.
Much loved father of John (Linda) Salisbury, Karrie Vankerkhoven and pre-deceased by his youngest son, Tom (Linda)Salisbury (2016).
Step-father of Kathy (George) Allman and Brian (Nancy) Hornick.
Sadly missed by his grandchildren Christopher (Tammie), Curtis (Sara) and Calvin(Krista)Vankerkhoven and Matthew (Leigh Anne) and Michael Salisbury who have the greatest memories of swimming, fishing and camping with Grampa.
Fondly remembered by step grandchildren Marnie (Dan) Cumming and Trevor Allman who have created many memories.
Adored by 9 great-grandchildren who never failed to tell him how much they loved him.
Len is the last of his many siblings. Predeceased by brothers Bruce, Cyril, Bill & Gerry, sisters Edna Henderson and Betty MacIntosh and their spouses and many in-laws.
Len spent the majority of his career as sales manager and outlet manager at Libbey Glass until his retirement. He also dabbled in property management later in his career. He spent the last 1/4 of his life on the farm with his wife where they took pleasure in growing, canning, baking and caring for the property and cooking meals at the fairgrounds and church.
Len was a force in determination, remaining independent for more than 93 of his years. A feat we can only be hopeful for.
Special thanks to Pastors Brian Horrobin and Terry Cline who visited and provided spiritual support for Len. Also, thanks to the staff at the Wallaceburg Retirement Residence, Meadowview Villa Nursing Home and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for the dedicated care provided to Len in his last months.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg from 10-12 p.m., with the service immediately following visitation at 12 noon, all from the chapel of the funeral home.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg, Ontario.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Ronald McDonald House may be left at the funeral home.
