Intimate partner violence charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 29, 2025, the Chatham-Kent Police Service received a 911 call from a Chatham residence, indicating a distressing situation.

Police arrived at the scene to find the man inside the home exhibiting concerning behaviour, including damaging drywall with pliers.

Given the circumstances, officers took immediate action to ensure the safety of the victim.

The accused was arrested without incident.

Through investigation the officers learned the accused was bound by a Probation Order issued on April 17, 2025, related to previous domestic charges involving the same victim.

As a result, the 37-year-old Chatham man was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada, including:

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

– Mischief Under $5,000

– Uttering Threats

– Assault with a Weapon

He is currently being held at police headquarters pending a bail hearing.
