This spring, the Chatham Cultural Centre is offering a new wave of activities designed to bring fun and creativity to Chatham-Kent residents. The Chatham-Kent Museum and Thames Art Gallery have announced an engaging schedule of Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon programs.
Starting in May, the Thames Art Gallery and CK Museum will extend their hours on Wednesdays, welcoming visitors from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Guests can drop in to explore the exhibitions or register for special activities such as Master Forger Paint Nights, Art + Wine sessions, or the interactive Escape the Museum challenge. On Saturdays, the programming continues with Field Trip Minis and gallery tours between 4 and 5 p.m., with no registration required.
Escape the Museum offers participants the chance to test their puzzle-solving skills by finding hidden objects and uncovering clues to escape within 40 minutes. Sessions take place at the Chatham-Kent Museum on May 7 and 21 and June 4 and 18, with start times at 6:30 and 7:15 p.m. Teams of up to six members can participate for $35.
For those seeking a more relaxed evening, Art + Wine at the Thames Art Gallery invites participants to enjoy a glass of wine and small bites while engaging in a lively discussion about the exhibition “power lines in the distance” by Anishinaabe artist Michael Belmore. The session, guided by moderator Mindy Bowls, will be held on May 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The $20 ticket includes one drink.
Art lovers can also sign up for Master Forger Paint Nights, where guests will learn techniques used by famous artists as they try to replicate a well-known painting. Sessions are scheduled for May 28, June 11 and June 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at a cost of $40 per participant.
Saturday programming includes Thames Art Gallery tours led by full-time gallery staff, offering insights into the current exhibitions and the opportunity to connect with art in new ways. Tours are planned for May 17 and 31 and June 14 and 28.
The Chatham-Kent Museum will host Field Trip Minis on May 10 and 24 and June 7 and 21, offering visitors of all ages a glimpse into the museum’s educational programming. These Saturday sessions also run from 4 to 5 p.m.
