Lawrence “Larry” Thomas Johnston of Sombra passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the age of 82.
Larry was the son of the late Gerald Andrew & Winnifred Margaret (Flynn) Johnston.
Beloved husband of 62 years to Wendy (Pinsonneault) with whom he shared a long and beautiful life. Loving father of Kim Maheu (Pat), Chris Johnston (Lisa), Annette Brennan (Steve) and Jenn Baker (Mike).
Dear grandfather of Ryan (Chelsea), Brent, Sarah (Derek), Colin, Carly (Jordan), Shailen (Sam), Aidan, Áine (Spencer), Riley (Rylee), Mya (Brock) and Avery (Luke) and great grandfather of Isla, Emerson, Harper, Hendricks, and Jaxson.
Brother of Pat Johnston (Dorothy), Marg Aarssen (late Dick), Jim Johnston (late Diane), Cathy Everaert (Paul) and brother-in-law of Wayne & Jeanette Hewer, and the late Bob and John. Larry had retired from his long career at Union Gas and remained active on his farm, working with his horses.
He was a proud member of the Optimist Club and lived by its Creed. Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 4 – 7 PM on Tuesday, May 6.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton on Wednesday, May 7 at 1 PM. Interment to follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Sombra.
