Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 5, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an assault in progress in Wallaceburg.
The report involved a 32-year-old woman from Wallaceburg who threw a stick at a young child while walking on a public street.
Witnesses reported that the woman appeared to be under the influence and was shouting incoherently prior to the incident.
The child was struck on the side but did not require medical treatment.
The suspect was arrested and was charged with assault with a weapon.
She was scheduled to attend court on May 12, 2025; however, she failed to attend court, and an endorsed warrant was issued for her arrest.
On May 14, 2025, at approximately 210:17 p.m. the accused was arrested by the Chatham-Kent Police on an endorsed warrant for Failing to attend court.
She was released with conditions and a scheduled court date of June 2, 2025.
