Carol passed away peacefully Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Chatham-Kent Hospice with her family at her side. At 67 years old, she was a proud daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt in a beautiful family. Daughter of the late Carson and Eleanor Richmond of Wallaceburg, and the stepdaughter of the late Bill Webster of Dresden. Devoted wife of Tom Eves for 48 years, and loving mother of Trevor and Erin Eves, Jason Eves and Candice Malott, Ryan and Samantha Eves, and Noelle and Chris Heyink.
Her greatest joy was being a Grandma to Grady, Griffin, Ethan, Kaleb, Brodie, Owen, Hailey, Carson, Paige, William, Timothy, Allison, and the late Campbell. She loved that her grandkids always used her small stature as a measuring stick as they all excitedly announced the day they were officially taller than Grandma. Carol was cherished sister to Ron (Diana) Richmond, Gary (Carol) Richmond, her older twin sister Cheryl (Ron) Riedstra, Donna (Ross) Armstrong, and late Larry Richmond. She was sister-in-law to Ernie (Ingrid) Eves, Pat (Merle) Brubacher, Mike (Tracy) Eves, and Bonnie (Dwayne) Lazaruk and the late Carol Burke. Her many nieces and nephews will remember her as a kind and loving aunt.
For many years in Dresden, Carol was a warm and wonderful caregiver to many children as an at-home daycare provider. She also spent many summers grading tomatoes, landscaping, and keeping things clean and orderly at Dresden Fabco, Dresden Casino, Lumberjack, and H.E. Construction. She spent many days tending to her beautiful gardens and helping others to plan and plant their gardens too. She was most at peace in a rocking chair, particularly in the shade outside or when holding a young child. She always put others first with a compassionate ear and an offer to sit with a cup of coffee to chat.
Carol will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those who loved her. The family of Tom and Carol Eves wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, PSWs, staff and volunteers at Chatham-Kent Hospice for their wonderful care and support during their stay this spring. Memorial contributions may be directed to Chatham-Kent Hospice.
