From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin
I want you to imagine the following scenario: You are at home and a delivery vehicle pulls up outside your house and a man gets out carrying a large Amazon box, depositing it on your front porch.
This happens day after day after day, sometimes one box, sometimes two, or even multiple packages, all addressed to you.
Each parcel has the same thing inside it and that thing is GOODNESS.
Can you imagine getting inundated every single day with loads of goodness?
Who wouldn’t want that?
In the psalms, King David acknowledged that the Lord was the Supreme Giver of all things good to those who placed their trust in Him and even went so far as to say that this was His will.
Psalm 31:19 says this: “How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear you, which You bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in You.”
God is clearly not stingy when it comes to dispensing His wonderful goodness, no, He actually stores it up for His followers!
James, the brother of Jesus, wrote something similar in his New Testament letter.
Here is what he says in James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
The Bible is quite clear that no person is good, only God.
Psalm 53:3 says: “Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
However, God in His infinite wisdom has chosen us, imperfect as we are, to be the vessels of His goodness to others.
So, let’s get out there and deliver one of God’s goodness packages to someone today!
As we have received, so let us also give.
